Hiya Internet,
So on April 29th in Get Fit we went to hot yoga. But let me tell you, when they say hot... They mean it! But that wasn't my favourite moment, I'll tell you about my lunchtime adventure. I had totally forgotten about hot yoga so I forgot to pack a towel, money, my waiver, a tank top and a water bottle. I had decided that I would run back to my house which is quite far, promptly pick up my stuff and run back. I thought this was a good idea because my mom had been sick this past week. As I set out at the beginning of lunch I forgot my gym bag to hold everything. But on I went, and I proceeded to run all the way home. As I arrived at my house I collected all my items and made a satchel out if my towel to carry them back. My mom then opened her bedroom door and asked if I wanted a ride back. When I got back to the school I felt as if all eyes were on me as I walked up the stairs with my towel satchel. So embarrassing! I feel strangely proud of this moment however. I ran all the way to my house which is normally a 30 minute walk and I was confident enough to walk through the school with my little towel satchel. I just felt like sharing this... For the actual final time. Signing off.
Hi Internet... My name is Kaitlin and I am in this all girls gym class in school. This is a blog to chart my thoughts and progress.

Year End Reflection
Hi Internet,
So here we are at the end of the year. It feels crazy as to how fast it went! I still remember all the fun we had especially at fencing (which was my favourite field trip). I did so much this year that I never thought I would be able to do and I am going to miss Get Fit because of it. I actually snowshoed which is so Canadian! 😜 Lol. I beat my friend Kyle in a foot race, I successfully completed hot yoga, I did 2 on the sit and reach(!), I tried tae kwondo and SO much more! I feel that this year has been the best one of high school yet because not once was I forced to play basketball! And I have yet to totally embarrass myself, so that's good. But seeing as there is only tommorow left I hope it doesn't happen. I feel that this year I have been working very hard. I know it's not enough to say I bring my gym strip everyday and I rarely miss class (which I do). But this year I have tried to bring more than just the smile on my face and a positive attitude (although both are very important) this year I have tried to bring intensity. I try to stay motivated and excited to do each work out and I always try to compete with myself. I think this is important because I am not always going to be able to workout with someone. This year I have increased my self motivation and my biceps 😜. For these reasons I believe I deserve maybe a 90%... I am so glad that I have gotten to be in this class. I made so many friends that I never would have if I didn't. Having three grades definitely influenced me because I could look up to all the grade 11 and 12ers. I feel that I got to workout with great people and that is what made get fit the best! GET FIT FOR LIFE YO! Lol I'm such a dork. Anyways. Thanks for sharing this year with me! For the final time... Signing out.

Fitness
Hiya Internet,
So a couple of weeks ago (or maybe just last week) was the last fitness testing of the year! I remember feeling so excited to see how much I've grown this year. So we entered the room to get ready for the beep test. You know it never hits me until the guy says 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 that I will have to really run the beep test. Anyways we did the beep test and I survived minor injuries (they should call it slalom instead) and I ended up with 8.6! This is pretty good for me seeing how I normally don't last until 8.4! After the beep test I was pretty pumped to finish the other tasks. This lead me to doing quite well on the other tasks. I got a personal best in push ups which was 30 (regular). I remember in grade eight I couldn't even complete 10! For plank I stayed aloft for 1:30 which is okay. For T-test I got 12.35. For board touches another personal best which was only 8! For max vertical I got my usual 35 cm. And for sit and reach I FINALLY reached 2! I feel overall I did pretty well for the last test of the year. I hope u can beat all of these if I ever have P. E. again!

Miss Representation
Hey Internet,
Okay. So I am a very particular person. If given the chance I could probably spend hours talking about the things I don't like about my face and body. For some reason I thought this was natural. But after watching Miss Representation I realized how horrible it is. I never knew any of the facts that we saw and I must say I was appalled. I was really scared to find out how many people have eating disorders, anxiety, or depression. I think that as kids we are taught to look, dress and act a certain way. So when we grow up it seems okay to judge everyone based on if they fit the criteria of "beautiful".
Okay... I am going to do something that I have never done before. I am going to post a piece of my poetry. This is new to me so I hope that it is well received...

Late... Midterm Reflection
Hiya Internet,
So firstly I apologize for the lateness of this post. It has been crazy busy around my house lately and I have been volunteering a lot... That is an explanation but an excuse so I'm sorry.
Can you believe we are already halfway through? I was amazed to think of how fast it went. Some of the things we have done have been crazy (field poker) but I have enjoyed it :) When speaking about participation I feel I have been doing pretty well. I feel I work hard especially when we are doing things like the pond run. On fitness days I also try extra hard because a few of my friends are in one of the other classes and I like to get competitive with them :P Something I feel that would hinder me in class, is if the group's energy is down. This occurs because I am very easily influenced and if the others feel tired, or lazy then I will feel tired and lazy. My theory is osmosis (that's the science geek in me talking). However I try to keep my energy up and I try to beat my expectations.
In terms of field trips my favourite has been the trip to the elementary school. This was my favourite because I love working with kids and this really reminded me of my family. I have 6 cousins under the age of 10 and they always visit at the same time. It is always fun to hang out with them but it can be difficult to get them all active and engaged at the same time. This event stretched my creative limits and made me miss my boys that much more :( Some of the other field trips have been awesome as well.
Okay. Moving on to fitness. For fitness I feel that I can tell a huge difference! I actually have started to create a better life style for myself! I have started to eat better, work harder, and take better care of my self. I accidentally lost 6 pounds since this class started and I was surprised. I never thought I was athletic but I never realized how much I like working hard. I feel like my body is getting stronger - especially my abs and self esteem. Okay so I was surfing the Internet and I found this cool girl on Youtube. Her name is Cassie and she has a page dedicated to Pop Pilates. Her workouts are fun and I have been doing a lot of them lately. I'll link her page here: http://www.youtube.com/user/blogilates/featured
Next is important moments... The only one I can think of right now is completing the Sun Run. It was so amazing to run 10 kilometers! I never thought I would be able to do it but I think the environment helped. There were people handing out water like in the movies! It was surreal! I finished with a time of 1:21 I think. That averaged out to a time of about 8 minutes a mile :D Right now I couldn't be prouder but my legs were killing afterwards!
I think that I deserve an A... Maybe an 86ish percent...

Elementary Adventure
Hi Internet!
So today in school I got out of class early to catch the bus. We went down to a local elementary school as I posted yesterday. It was so awesome because right as we entered all the kids started to wave and say hi to us! They were sooooooooo cute! They were grade 1 and 2 so they were so little and bouncy! Right after we were somewhat organized, I got to stand up and talk to them. I tried to get them excited but I was nervous and pretty much wung it (that's a word right?) Anyways we split off into groups and did our station with all the kids. We had them run back and forth in silly ways. We had them acting like chickens, bunnies, and babies! Surprisingly they took to it very well. Although to help them understand I participated every single time! These kids are pretty fast! At the end of the class we all did the routine that was taught by one of the other groups! We all did the gangnum style dance! Sooo cute! Anyways I rode home with some other girls because I had to make a class but I was sad to leave! Some girls even hugged me! I really hope we go again! Well... That's all for now I guess.

Helping Elementary Kids :)
Hi Internet
To make up for having an empty blog I thought I would fill you in on what is going down tomorrow. The Get Fit class is travelling to one of the local elementary schools to work with some kids! We will be working with 2 grade one classes, so like 40 kids and I am so super excited! We are splitting our class up into six groups and I have get to do the introduction! I am kind of nervous for that, but what is the wirst that could happen? They are all 6ish! Anyway, I'll fill you in tomorrow :)

Snowshoeing!!! Pardon my computer :(
Hey Internet!
So yesterday the Get Fit class went to Mt. Seymour to go snowshoeing, it was snow much fun! (See what I did there? :P ) we went up in a big bus and because the girls behind me never sat in the back before, there was tons off screaming every time we went over a bump! That was so funny! When we got there it was so cold and I was glad that I brought my marshmallow jacket... We strapped on the snowshoes and it felt so weird! The guide's name was Sarah and she was so nice. We did some really serious stuff though! We learned about frostbite and hypothermia, which was scary but interesting :P Anyway as for the workout, I was sweating pretty bad! Sarah got us to run, lunge, and skip which was really difficult! Your steps have to be a bit wider so it changes how fast you can go... We also played this fun game that involved a duck. Surprisingly it was called "Huck the Duck" lol. On the way back I don't remember what happened because I was asleep the whole time but before we got on the bus they gave us warm apple cider. Before yesterday I had never drank that before, it is basically warmed up apple juice with cinnamon... I iked it pretty well :)
Anyways that's is so BAIII
P.S. ANOTHER one of those messages :( SOORRY

Fitness Interm WOW Computer Malfunction
Hey Internet!
So today we are supposed to be talking about how we are working on our goals so far and our progress... One of my goals was to try new things that I could use after high school. I have tried so many new things since we started get fit a month ago! I tried tae kwondo and snowshoeing, both of which I have never tried before. We also went ice skating which was awesome! I have also tried different fitness exercises like Insanity and the new hill run which is basically suicides but up a hill. This goal will be easy to complete because this class always keeps me on my toes and I am constantly trying new things.
As for my other goal: to be more self motivated, I think I have been sort of succeeding. I definitely have been more aware of my body and my limits (thanks to the Bob yoga workout) I love showing up and doing workouts that I have never tried before! I find that I don't need to be surrounded by people to be motivated to work out, because I'm not afraid to look silly :P I will go more full out and will enjoy it!
So that's all... BAI
P.S. I was logging in to blogger and I found that there was this message that said "Could not post, try again?" IT WAS FROM MARCH 6 OR SOMETHING! I am so sorry! I didn't mean to have an empty blog! Stupid computer! :(

Field Trips and Beyond!
Hi Internet!
So this last week or so has been crazy! We were in the weight room for a little while - where we took hilarious pictures - and did some really difficult workouts. On Thursday we went to my friend Shweta's tae kwondo studio! It was so crazy! We practiced different types of kicks and some punch combos. We even tried to hit those things that make really intimidating noises - like a THWACK - which was so fun. I got so dizzy at one point because we were doing turny kicks... I definitely want to go back later on in the year! My favourite part by far was holding a guard and letting people hit me. It was scary but I felt strong and empowered afterwards. BTW at the end of the day, Shweta kicked one of those boards like a ninja master! It was her first time to! So impressive!
On Friday we did the Insanity workout, which is very appropriately named! At the end I was huffing and puffing so hard that I couldn't blow out a candle. The people in this video are so intimidating! They are always so perfectly sculpted and they have crazy endurance! I tried to keep up but mostly I was competing with two guys from another class. This workout was very difficult for me because I was not feeling good that day, randomly I would get waves of nausea and dizziness. My friends definitely helped during those points. They reminded me to pace myself and the support helped me push myself within my limits. I really tried to be competitive but in the end I had to think about myself and I "forfeited". I'll beat them next time :P
Today our class and Mr. Neufeld's class went ice skating, which was so fun! We took the bus there and skated for about 45 minutes then bused back. The skating was so fun because I got to teach a couple people! Before this I hadn't skated for about 10 months. I was so happy to be back and to go as fast as possible :D I'm going to include a picture that Mr. Neufeld took.
I am so excited for tomorrow because we are going snowshoeing! I have never been snowshoeing before so this will be a new adventure! I'll fill you in after okay? CAN'T WAIT!!!

Get Fit Post - Intro
Hey Internet!
So this is my first post so I thought I would put up my thoughts on get fit and sterf... (Casual ermergerd reference) This year what I look forward to the most is the field trips! I am so excited to try new things that I will actually use in the future! I mean seriously, who is going to play basketball when you have a job, three kids, and a needy puppy who just wants to be loved? (This is not a plan, just a situation...) Do I hear fencing? Yoga? Aquafit? I hope so! I can't wait to try things like that, because I never have tried them before and it will be awesome to do when everyone is as confused and awkward as you. When you have boys in the class there is always a pressure to be super athletic and to look cute all the time, but in this class I feel like there is no pressure to be perfect and pretty when I work out. Like I want to SWEAT not look like a Disney princess!
My fitness goals this year are to try new fitness things/ideas that I will want to continue doing in case I don't have P.E. or Get Fit next year. I also want to be more self motivated not just generally competitive. I want to get a 9 on the beep test, or a consistent 6 during the 25 min. run... Idk I just want to have a good time and try to do my best.
So that's pretty much it... Hope you have a super amazing Valentine's Day!
